Contacting Your Legislator

Contacting and Communicating with Your Massachusetts State Legislators

How to get started!!

First you need to "Find My Legislator"

If you do not know the name of your local state Representative or Senator, click the link https://malegislature.gov/Search/FindMyLegislator  to look them up – simply put your street address in. That's all, now you are on your way.

GOAL recommends the following means of communicating with your legislators – best practices listed first.

  1. Meet face to face – at their office, or better, look for opportunities to meet up when they are in "the district."
  2. Phone calls– we can coach you through it.
  3. Write a letter – go to our helpful letter/email writing page.
  4. Email – Bulk emails through "click here" systems are highly ineffective and are likely deleted without being read. We can help you create a brief personal email that will have much more effect.

Looking for Additional Information? Check out the Secretary of the Commonwealth & Elections Division. Just type in your address and it will tell you everything from what precinct you are in and where to vote to who your local and US legislators are.
