Massachusetts SCOTUS Case Update

Massachusetts SCOTUS Case Update

On Friday, May 1, 2020 the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) has scheduled a conference. This event is where the justices will discuss what to do with cases still in the pipeline. Normally, they will announce on the following Monday as to what their decisions were. In our case, Worman v. Healey, they have three options.

1. They could deny our Cert request and therefore not hear the case.

2. They could hold it for yet another conference.

3. They could grant Cert and move to schedule briefing and oral arguments.

The most recent Second Amendment Case out of New York was dismissed by the Court on a 6-3 vote. The majority of justices ruled that the case had become moot because the city had provided the relief sought by changing its rules.
