March 23, 2020 Update:
As of this morning Governor Baker has ordered all “non-essential” businesses to close their physical businesses sites. A link to the new order and list of “essential” businesses can be found below.
Concerning firearm license processing, we were informed today that the Firearms Record Bureau is still processing licenses. Most towns are accepting renewal applications through mail, email and some, even drop off. (See our earlier alert for more details.) Check with your local authority as to what they prefer.
The bad news is still on new license applicants. Many towns are specifically saying they have stopped accepting those applications, but again check with your specific city/town. The state will still process those if they receive them from the local authorities.
As for firearm retailers and wholesalers within the state. We are told if the business is not on the “essential” list than they should be closing their physical location(s) by noon tomorrow. GOAL reminds you that the state unjustly excluded the firearm industry from applying for emergency small business loans.
GOAL will continue to stay on top of things as best we can and keep you informed.
