THE CASTLE DOCTRINE

The Castle Doctrine is an ancient legal concept that harkins back to the Roman Empire and has been transported to us by English Common Law. Simply stated, it is the right to defend oneself in one's home. The Castle Doctrine relieves one of the “duty to retreat” while defending oneself in one's home. However, counter to popular belief, it does not allow you to automatically shoot an intruder. While your gun can help keep you safe in your home, this session on the Castle Doctrine and the use of deadly force will help to keep you legal. Remember, the courts expect you to KNOW THE LAW.
