“Self-defense spray”, chemical mace, pepper spray or any device or instrument which contains, propels or emits a liquid, gas, powder or other substance designed to incapacitate.
- No person under 18 can purchase or possess “self-defense spray”.
- 15 – 17 year olds even with an FID Card will need a separate self-defense spray permit in order to possess or purchase.
- A special permit is now needed for anyone under 18.
- Permits will be issued through the local licensing authorities.
- Applicants must pass a background check and be declared “suitable”.
- Applicants must be at least 12 years of age.
- Applicants 12 to 15 must have parental permission.
- Permit shall be valid for 3 to 5 years depending on when the permit holders birthday is.
- Permit holders are required to report any change of address within 30 days. Failure shall be cause for suspension or revocation.
- Cost of the permit for anyone under 18 shall be $25.
